press release press release press release Who Really Wrote Shakespeare?CNY Premiere of The Beard of Avon Tells AllTCNY audiences will get their first chance to see the exciting, satirical and comical look at the age-old question of who wrote Shakespeare. Playwright Amy Freed, nominated for a Pulitzer Prize for her Freedomland, takes us on a journey that few playwrights have tackled before; the origins of Shakespeare's works. Ms. Freed applies her cinematic approach to the theatrical realm as she follows the Bard from his marriage in Stratford to London and back again and traces his journey for us to behold. For all you Shakespeare in Love fans, this is the play you've been waiting for. Don't miss these fantastic performances in our final show of our first season: Dan Rowlands as Will Shakspeare, Elisabeth Holmes as his wife, Anne Hathaway, Linda Hurd as Queen Elizabeth and Gabe Infantino as Edward DeVere, The Earl of Oxford. A sacred monster. Wants a boyfriend. ANNE HATHAWAY: Shakspere's wife. Lively, illiterate, promiscuous. ***HENRY WRIOTHESLEY: 20's. Young and beautiful. Third Earl of Southampton. Edward De Vere's lover. press release press release press release Beard of Avon Auditions Are SetGreat Parts for 7 Men and 2 WomenOpen Auditions on Fri. 2/15/08, 7-9 pm, Sun. 2/17 from 2-4 pmThe Syracuse Shakespeare Festival is holding open auditions for all roles in its April 11-20, 2008 production of The Beard of Avon by Amy Freed at The Warehouse. Ronald Bell is slated to direct his first show for SSF since the '04 Shakespeare-in-the-Park show, Twelfth Night. It is a full length, satirical comedy about the life and times of William Shakespeare told from his perspective in the first person. We meet him in a barn in Stratford and follow his career through its many ups and downs in London. Along the way we see many figures from his life. Playwright Amy Freed was nominated for a Pulitzer Prize for her play, Freedomland. Auditions will be held at the Sedgwick Heights Community Room, 1100 James St. in Syracuse. Please prepare a 1-2 minute classical piece and be prepared to read from the play. This is a great opportunity to get involved with a growing company as we expand. Cast members will be compensated for their performances through revenue sharing based on their ticket sales. You will see and hear it all as we reveal the layers of a tortured mind bent on avenging his father's death. This intimate portrait will leave you stunned by its power and beauty.
